Mae-Lynn Germany is currently pursuing her PhD in Counseling Psychology in the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Research at the University of Memphis. She recently received her Master’s of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in Spring 2015. Mae-Lynn is a graduate research assistant with the Institute for Intelligent Systems (IIS) under mentorship of Dr. Leah Windsor in the Minerva Language Across Cultures lab. Mae-Lynn has worked in the IIS for the past several years on intelligent tutoring systems (i.e. Operation ARA! & Autotutor Lite). Mae-Lynn’s research interest center around bridging her experience in cognitive science to clinical research and practice. Her interest vary across a broad range of topics including: personal meaning and constructions of sexuality, grief and loss in death and uncommon losses, assessment in counseling, threat detection, and the use automated linguistic analysis tools (i.e. LIWC and Coh-Metrix) for political, cognitive, and counseling research.

Danielle is a psychology Masters student at the Institute for Intelligent Systems in the University of Memphis. She works with Dr. Arthur Graesser in the Center for the Study of Adult Literacy lab and the Internship-inator lab. She also works in the Languages Across Cultures lab led by Dr. Leah Windsor. Her primary interests are in cognitive psychology, Collaborative Problem Solving, Conversational Agents, Educational Games, STEM Education, Humor and Learning, Learning Sciences, Intelligent Tutoring Systems, and Discourse Processes.

Grayson Cupit is student at the University of Memphis. Grayson is currently pursuing bachelor degrees in computer engineering and electrical engineering. Current interests include systems theory, applied machine learning, linguistics, data mining and visualization, and, generally, the novel application of computational techniques to various disciplines. Within the Institute of Intelligent Systems, Grayson is an undergraduate research assistant in the Language Across Cultures lab led by Dr. Leah Windsor.

Andrew is a Senior Research Software Developer with the Institute for Intelligent Systems at the University of Memphis as well as a graduate student in the department of Computer Science.  He is currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Computer Science and received a Bachelors of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.  His interests lie in Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, and Dialog Systems.

She is very interested in major political, economic, social, and cultural issues. She also has a great interest in learning languages. She speaks Spanish, English, Korean, and is currently learning German and Russian. Former employee for the International Studies department.

William is an undergraduate student at The University of Memphis with majors in Cognitive Science, Computer Science, and Japanese. He has worked for several terms in both the Language and Behavior lab and the Knowledge Acquisition lab in the psychology department. He is currently working on the LAC team as well as on his thesis on sentential negation differences between Japanese and English. William spent a year studying in Japan at Nagoya Gakuin University. After graduation, he plans to attend graduate school in cognitive science.
